3D PRINTING

At SJS Products, a Jamcor Corporation, our broad range of engineering solutions extends through CNC machining, chemical etching, all areas of engineering support, and 3D printing. Our expertise in 3D printing technology makes us the people to talk to if this is what you need. Using the latest equipment, and with skilled operators to handle any job, we partner with our customers as a dedicated provider to your specific project. So, what might you use our 3D Printing expertise for?

What is 3D Printing?

3D printing is a relatively new concept that has undergone rapid development, and the concept opens up the manufacturing and engineering industries – and many more as we will talk about below – to fast, accurate and innovative production of a variety of products. 3D Printing is what is known as an ‘additive process’; this involves adding layers of a material – in this case one of a variety of plastics including PLA (Poly Lactic Acid) Filament and Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) – until the product is created. This is as opposed to ‘subtractive’ manufacturing in which the material is hollowed out or cut to create the item.

The advantages of using SJS Products’, a Jamcor Corporation, 3D printing expertise are various. 3D printing is a digital process, in that the design for the item is fed into a computer, which then talks to the 3D printer and directs the manufacturing process. This means it is very fast, and it is used in engineering for rapid prototyping as it is a fast and inexpensive process. Let’s have a brief look at some of the industries that may use the 3D printing process.

Who Uses 3D Printing?

The following industries are regular users of 3D Printing processes:

Automotive – for producing replacement parts and for the reproduction of vintage parts

Aviation – 3D printers are used for a variety of mass-production small parts

Medicine – there is ongoing research into using 3D printing for medical implants, and it can be used for producing prosthetics

Consumer Products – including eyewear and footwear, toys and much more

Construction – many people believe the very future of the construction industry lies in 3D printing, with fully ‘printed’ houses being heavily researched right now, and printed doors, windows and other features already in production.

The rapid nature, and affordable manufacturing costs, of 3D printing make it a very attractive method of production in the above and many other industries.
