CNC MACHINING

CNC MACHINING

At SJS Products, a Jamcor Corporation, we are here to help with a wide variety of engineering solutions. CNC machining is used in the development of new product as well as the improvement of existing ones, and offers a level of precision not seen in other machines. We are experts in the field and we are here to help you with your next project. What is CNC, and where is it used?

What is a CNC Machine?

CNC stands for Computer Numerical Control. A CNC machine is a milling device that is used to process materials – this could be a sheet of metal, plastic, wood or composite materials – into a precision designed shape as input digitally. The machine uses a series of components to cut out the shape without the need for an operator – it is totally automated once the data has been fed into it.

By combining a mobile tool – the cutting device – and the platform on which it is laid, the CNC process allows for greater variation in uses, while retaining the precision measurements required. The machine is directed in its actions by data created using computer aided design (CAD) and also by computer aided manufacturing (CAM) software.

The most up to date CNC machines will combine a variety of tools – saws, drills and more -in one device, so they can carry out various processes in one clean movement. The efficiency of CNC production is hard to match, and accuracy is simply exemplary in every instance. Used worldwide in a variety of industries, if you need CNC assistance, partner with us at SJS Products, where you will have access to the best source of expertise in the world of CNC production.

Who Uses CNC Machines?

The CNC process is used for design and manufacture in a wide variety of industries where precision measurements in products are essential.

These industries require fast and accurate processes in design and production. A further advantage of CNC milling machines is that they work to tightly defined tolerances, ensuring that any products that are produced this way are precise and correct.

At SJS Products we also have our new Vertical Machining Centers which take the CNC concept a step further, and allow for greater flexibility in the work produced.

  • Table size ranging from 12″ x 30″ to 26″ x 50″
  • Spindle speeds up to 12,000 RPM
  • Z heights to 20″

The machines work well in applications where flat or long parts can be placed on the machine table. Parts are typically secured on the table using vises or other holding devices. They are suited for higher production work where parts can easily be changed out when machining is complete.
